Dimensional Examination. The x-ray protective apron shall be examined for defects in dimensions. Any dimension not as specified herein shall be classified as a defect.
Tests
Lead Equivalent test.
Contractor shall radiograph two apron samples at 85 KVP with Intensifying screens at an appropriate milliampere-seconds and target-film distance using a lead step wedge. The lead equivalent of the two samples shall then be determined. Failure to achieve an equivalency of 0.30 mm on either of the two samples shall constitute a major defect.
Weight test
The apron shall be weighed. Failure to weigh 7 pounds or less shall constitute a major defect.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
