TRAY, CATHETER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Interim Federal Specification RR-T-00626.
This commercial item description covers stainless catheter trays, with covers, suitable for holding catheters used in military medical treatment facilities.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a catheter tray with cover and handle designed to hold catheters in hospital operating rooms and in medical facilities. Shall be made in following nominal sizes (inside dimensions):
Small – 8 inches (20.3 cm) long 2-1/2 inches (6.4 cm) wide by 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm) deep.
Medium – 16-1/2 inches (41.9 cm) long by 3-1/2 inches (8.9 cm) wide by 2-1/4 inches (5.7 cm) deep.
The tray and cover shall be formed seamlessly, each from one piece of 0.031 inch thick (minimum) corrosion-resisting steel, American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) 300 series, which shall not be reduced below 0.025 inch thickness at any point. (The cover of the small tray shall be formed from 0.025 inch thick (minimum) steel which shall not be reduced below 0.062 thickness at any point). The cover handle shall be formed of 0.062 thick (minimum) corrosion-resisting steel AISI 300 series.
The bottom of the tray shall be so designed that maximum reinforcement and rigidity is obtained. The tray shall rest on a level surface without rock or wobble.
Cover shall be designed to fit tray squarely, without rock or tendency to rattle. Cover may be flat or domed.
Cover handle shall be square or rounded, provided finger clearance is adequate.
Spotwelding of the handle to the cover shall be firmly secure, smooth, and free of cracks, porosity, and other defects.
Tray and cover surfaces shall have a uniform #4 commercial finish, or better, and be readily cleanable.
Tray and cover shall be free of cracks, sharp edges, burrs, pits, dents, ripples, and deformities.
