The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to A-A-0051373 (DM), 31 March 1986.
This commercial item description covers one size of a sterile disposable, operating gown with towel suitable for preventing bacterial migration into the sterile field.
Salient characteristics:
The surgical pack shall consist of a large size, disposable, non-woven sterile surgical operating gown with towel.

The surgical operating gown shall be full length with a generous overlapping back closed with plastic snap fasteners at the neck area. These fasteners shall be applied to a non-woven ribbon made from the gown body material. The ribbon is attached to the gown by sewing. Three (3) male snaps on the left flap and two (2) female snaps are on the right flap. The gown shall have four (4) tie tapes, two (2) on the outside and two (2) on the inside, approximately at waist level. The tie tapes shall be attached by sewing to the gown. The gown shall have a non-woven neck binding sewn to neck area of gown body.
The gown shall have full length raglan sleeves set in by sewing. The sleeves shall have wristlets made of tubular knit polyester fabric.
