APRON, DENTAL (Plastic, Disposable)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-A-37049.
This commercial item description covers a disposable plastic apron suitable for use in protecting a patient’s clothing during prosthodontic procedures.
Salient characteristics:
The apron shall be a disposable, plastic sheet suitable for the protection of a patient’s uniform (clothing) from impression materials, softened waxes, and similar materials used during the performance of prosthodontic procedures upon dental patients. The apron shall be fabricated from seamless, flat, polyethylene film.

The thickness, length and width shall be uniform overall.
The apron shall be soft and shall not cling to the patient. The apron shall not be brittle. The apron color shall be translucent clear or transparent blue or white polyethylene film. The color shall be uniform throughout the apron. The aprons shall be furnished on a continuous “snapped-off” roll with perforations for easy tear-off each apron. The roll shall easily fit in a standard household paper towel holder.
Workmanship. Apron shall be free of holes, tears or cuts in the body of the apron, foreign matter embedded in the plastic, or any defect which detracts from their appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Roll (RO). One roll containing one hundred aprons, as specified, constitutes one unit.
